Neurodivergence-adapted Psychological Interventions
Neurodiversity refers to the concept that we are all different neurologically, particularly as seen in people with autism and ADHD. These variations in brain development can also be viewed as a type of "normal". Neurodivergent therapy aims to better understand the unique obstacles that neurodivergent individuals face, and validate their experiences while accepting their differences, without trying to necessarily cure them. Ways in doing this include:
Fostering customized Environments
Maintaining Dignity Regardless of Support Needs
Identity-First Language (e.g. "a person with autism", as opposed to "an autistic person")
